Dear Rebels,
This message is being sent to inform you of an important development related to your semesterly tuition costs for attending UNLV. In light of the very difficult budget situation that the university finds itself in due to the latest round of cuts, a new student fee is currently being considered that would be designed to assist the university in avoiding some of the worst consequences of the budget cuts- layoffs, loss of class sections, elimination of programs, etc. This new fee would not completely solve the budget dilemma but it would provide approximately $1 million on a yearly basis in the effort to help fill the budget gap.
Fee Details:
- Money that is paid by student fees and which currently funds CSUN Student Government would instead be diverted directly to the university to help fill the budget gap.
- A new fee of $2.47 per credit (same as the current amount that funds CSUN) would be established to keep CSUN operating at the same level that it is now.
- In order to take effect, CSUN must approve the fee and then it must be approved by a majority of undergraduate students voting in the upcoming CSUN Executive Board Election on April 7th and 8th.
Your Input Is Needed:
- The Senate will be voting on this fee during the following day and time: CSUN Senate Meeting- Monday, March 22nd at 6:30pm in Student Union Rm. 208 B and C
-Please feel free to attend the meeting and speak during "Public Comment" or contact your CSUN Representatives directly by clicking on the "Senate" menu above, and selecting your respective college. You may also contact President Cronis with the contact information below.
Thank you for your consideration of this message,
Adam Cronis CSUN Student Body President E-Mail:
